The Land Buy-Back Program for Tribal Nations (Buy-Back Program or the Program) carried out the land consolidation component of the Cobell v Salazar Settlement Agreement, which established a $1.9 billion Trust Land Consolidation Fund (Fund) to buy fractional interests in trust or restricted land from willing sellers at fair market value. Consolidated interests were immediately transferred to Tribal trust ownership for the benefit of the reservation community and Tribal members.


The Program was established in December 2012, and its 10-year implementation period for land consolidation efforts ended on November 24, 2022.


Landowners can contact the Trust Beneficiary Call Center at 1-888-678-6836 to update their contact information, ask questions about their land, and learn about financial planning resources.
